The Cathedral Santa Maria la Nuova in Monreale Sicily is one of Italy's national treasures. Built from 1172-1189 A.D. in a Norman-Benedictine-Arabic style, the inside contains 130 Biblical Byzantine Mosaic scenes and a very large adjoining Benedictine Monk's Cloister, with 106 column capitals, each hand carved with it's own biblical scene.
